1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Auris ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and handles your personal data when you use our macOS application and related services (collectively, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

A. Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address. If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your payment information — we do not store credit card details.

B. Audio Data

We do not collect, transmit, or store your audio recordings. All speech-to-text transcription is performed entirely on your device using a local Core ML model (Parakeet TDT). Audio never leaves your Mac.

C. Transcribed Text (AI Refinement Only)

If you enable AI refinement, the transcribed text (not audio) is sent to our cloud service for processing. This text is used solely to generate the refined output and is not stored after processing is complete.

D. Screen Content (Screen-Aware Features Only)

If you use screen-aware AI features, a screenshot of your current screen may be sent to our cloud service to provide contextual assistance. Screenshots are processed in real-time and are not stored after the response is generated.

E. Usage Data

We collect minimal, anonymous usage telemetry: feature usage counts, quality tier selection, and error rates. This data does not include any transcribed text, audio, or screen content.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the Services
  • To process your subscription and payments
  • To send important product updates (you can opt out)
  • To improve the Services based on anonymous usage patterns

4. Data Processing & Third Parties

We use the following third-party services:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS Bedrock) — AI text refinement and command processing. Text sent for refinement is processed and not retained by AWS beyond the API call.
  • Stripe — Payment processing. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • Amazon Cognito — Authentication. Stores your email and account credentials securely.

5. Data Retention

  • Audio: Never collected or stored.
  • Transcribed text sent for refinement: Not stored after processing.
  • Screen content: Not stored after processing.
  • Account data: Retained until you delete your account.
  • Usage telemetry: Retained for up to 90 days.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Opt out of marketing communications
  • Use the app in Raw mode with zero cloud contact

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS 1.3), encrypted storage, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

8. Children's Privacy

The Services are not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the app. Continued use of the Services after changes constitutes acceptance.
