Getting Started
How do I install Auris?
Download the DMG from our download page, open it, and drag Auris to your Applications folder. Launch it from Applications or Spotlight. Grant microphone and accessibility permissions when prompted.
What are the system requirements?
macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. Apple Silicon required (M1/M2/M3/M4) — the on-device ML model needs Apple Silicon for real-time performance.
How do I set up my hotkeys?
Open Auris from the menu bar → Settings → Shortcuts tab, then set each mode's key. By default Voice Typing uses ⌥ Option, AI Command uses ⌘⌥ Cmd + Option, and AI Workspace uses Control — hold the key to activate. You can change any of them to your preferred combination.
Privacy & Security
Is my audio sent to the cloud?
No. Transcription is 100% on-device using Core ML. Only the transcribed text is sent for AI refinement, and only if you have refinement enabled. Audio never leaves your Mac.
Does it work offline?
Voice typing in Raw mode works completely offline. AI refinement and voice commands require internet.
What data does Auris collect?
Minimal usage telemetry (feature usage counts, no content). Transcribed text sent for AI refinement is processed and discarded immediately — never stored.
Using Auris
How is this different from macOS Dictation?
macOS Dictation gives you raw text. Auris gives you polished, context-aware, tone-adapted text. Plus voice commands, web search, and per-app intelligence. And it's faster.
What about accents and languages?
Auris supports 25 languages with automatic language detection: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Czech, Slovak, Romanian, Hungarian, Bulgarian, Croatian, Greek, Slovenian, Estonian, Lithuanian, Latvian, and Maltese.
What is per-app intelligence?
Auris automatically adjusts tone, formality, and formatting based on which app you're typing in. Professional for Mail, casual for Slack, raw for Terminal. Set it once, forget it forever.
Billing & Account
How does the free trial work?
You get 7 days of full access to all Pro features. No credit card required to start. Voice Typing in Raw mode always remains free even after the trial.
What if I don't like it?
Cancel anytime during or after your trial. No questions asked. Voice Typing in Raw mode always remains free.
What payment methods are accepted?
All major credit and debit cards via Stripe. Apple Pay is also supported.
Troubleshooting
Auris isn't transcribing / hotkey doesn't work
Check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone — ensure Auris has permission. Also check Accessibility permissions. Restart Auris after granting permissions.
